Should I have music in my website?

>

That depends.

Website owners usually want ambient music to play automatically when visitors come to their sites, so that their visitors could get ‘the feel’ of their websites. The problem is, not all visitors would want to listen to the music you place in your website.

Yes you may have music embedded in your website but be sure to place SOUND OFF button where people who prefer silence could turn the music off. It can get annoying when you visit a page while listening to your own play list, and suddenly music coming from a website overlaps.

Think first if it is absolutely necessary for your site to have music that is played automatically as your site is loading. If you can do without it, the better. Another option would be having a mediaplayer in your site with a play list where people could choose to play music or not. Give your visitors the ‘power’ to choose the kind of experience they want out of your site by giving them options–this will give them a reason to come back. I stayed away from one website because it has annoying looped music, even if some parts of the website interested me.
